We'll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we'll see what happens to it. It didn't mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. In fact, Kyle's customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. In the 14 years we've been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn't stand behind. The censorship (and thats what it is, every time something is edited with a bleep sound or the image of a black box, its called censoring, its like the definition and stuff) was so over the top I this is actually what I assumed first, especially since all the stuff at the end was bleeped out, I thought maybe they were making fun of how a lot of their shows have a moral and they have a nice little warm fuzzy speech at the the end, but I thought about it and it didn't make sense. Is it possible this whole "censorship" thing was the actual show? ie nothing was cut or changed, the show was broadcast in it's entirety. This group of whackos actively attempts to recruit others and openly post threats and incitations of violence with absolutely no rebuke. The real story here is that our society is so liberal that New York City is the perfect place for a group of extreme muslims to plot the downfall of our society.
"I can't go into the thinking behind it, but I can confirm it was Comedy Central that inserted the bleeps and not South Park," a spokesman for the station said. "Do you seriously think that will appease the extremists from more terrorism?" one wrote.Īs controversy raged, Comedy Central confessed that it was responsible for the cuts. In the aftermath of the show's censorship, the chatrooms on South Park's website hummed with the indignation of its fans. They also listed the New York headquarters of Comedy Central, the cable television channel that broadcasts the show, and South Park's production company, adding: "You can pay them a visit at these addresses." To underline the point, the website carried a picture of Van Gogh, the Dutch film-maker killed in 2004 after he made a documentary on the abuse of women in Muslim countries, with his throat cut and a knife in his chest. The group, through its website, had reacted to last week's episode of South Park which first depicted Muhammad dressed as a bear by saying its originators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, "will probably wind up like Theo van Gogh".
The censorship followed a warning from a New York-based group of extremist Muslim converts that could be construed as a death threat. I guarantee you there are plenty of Muslims in the US that believe an image of M is blasphemous but support your right to show it just the same.
Free speech is what makes this country great and is why we have been so respected to begin with. Whatever, we can continue to do stupid shit and have the majority of the world hate us.Įxtremely stupid people that run their mouths offend me on a very deep level, so I think you should probably go ahead and kill yourself.įreedom of speech is not why there is animosity towards the US abroad, in fact I'd say thats more about stuff like the patriot act, and lack of due process for people in gitmo. If an image of Muhammad has never existed because the Muslim faith considers any physical representation of their prophet to be blasphemous, what right do we have to make a decision on what they should look like?ĭo you think parker and stone would have bothered if it weren't for the threats and the controversy? No, they make their episodes for shock value and ratings. I was wondering why the three monolouges at the end were censored out. Huh, so maybe the censorship was on a corporate level? I think I remember hearing that the last time they tried to show him, there was just black box, just the same. When i read his shit i had to reread because i didn't think someone could be so clueless. You would happily sacrifice the 1st Amendment in order to keep someone from being offended. But Islam is off limits because they're special? What that actually means is some radical will come kill you over a picture or a word. They can make fun of all the celebrities they want. That's just a retarded notion that some hippies came up with in the 60s when they decided that we had to call short people "vertically challenged" or disabled people "differently-abled."ĭidn't you see the point they were making? They could call the Buddah a coke snorter, Jesus a violent many who loves porn, and the entirety of Mormanism and it's followers dumb (da-dumb-da-dumb) and all Jews to be shifty gold hoarders. THere's nothing in our culture or constitution that guarantees the right to be free from being offended. Krp8128 you are the stupidest fuck to ever post in the padded room.
